Shaped by her early career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, Athanasia has retained her “trial tough” prosecutorial skills and puts them to use to benefit MAAA’s client roster today. Athanasia has developed keen investigative and oral advocacy skills which distinguish her as a formidable litigator and trial attorney. She is an expert at identifying and preparing critical expert witnesses, and conducting investigations and complex accident reconstructions. Trial practice has been a significant part of Athanasia’s career and she is always prepared to take a case to trial. Athanasia has successfully defended individuals and business entities in high-exposure cases involving premises liability, tractor trailer and motor vehicle accidents, liability of property owners, general contractors and subcontractors in connection with public and private construction contracts, and New York State Labor Law matters, as well as liability of product manufacturers, dealers and distributors, wrongful death actions, arson, fraud, and subrogation.
Athanasia is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance and the Hellenic Lawyers Association of New York. Athanasia has lectured on claims evaluation, and defense and trial strategy of General Liability, wrongful death and New York State Labor Law claims. She is also a mentor to law students and young lawyers and oversees the firm’s training programs.
